SULTAN HAIDER TRUST

Sultan Haider Trust is a Charity Organisation created to establish educational institutions in developing countries, particularly in Pakistan which are in dire need of institutions committed to deliver the best education in accordance to British Schools. The Purpose of creation of this trust is also to reduce the poverty in different parts of the world by providing the facilities to improve the standards of living.

This trust was founded by the Former Mayor of London Borough of Sutton, Councillor Lal Hussain MBE and his wife, Mrs Maqbool Hussain on The 10th of February 2004.

Mrs. Hussain's devotion to the project was exemplary, in spite of ill health and medical advice to the contrary she insisted on personally visiting the school sites. She considered herself privileged to meet the children and their parents. It is with great sadness and regret we inform you that she passed away peacefully in London from a heart condition on the 19th April 2006. All those who knew her will always remember her for her kindness and easygoing nature. Mr. and Mrs. Hussain are well known for running and helping many charitable organisations not only in United Kingdom, but abroad as well.

His noted major causes of charity include sending immediate relief supplies to the victims of Iranian and Turkish earthquake recently by making frequent Appeals on Television. He is well known for his charitable works during the Bosnian Crisis, Conflict in Kashmir, and Floods in Bangladesh, helping the victims of civil war in Sierra Leone. He has been of great Assistance to the medical needs of Palestinians through the organisation MAP (Medical Aid for Palestine).
Cllr Hussain also works hand in hand with many other international charitable organisations such as Cancer Research Institute, Muslim Aid, Islamic Relief, Muslim Hands, and Helping Hands etc.
He was awarded MBE by Her Majesty the Queen in 1997 for his services to Community Relations in Surrey. In December 2002, His Royal Highness Prince Charles presented him with an award for excellence for community relations nominated by the readers of Muslim News. Cllr Hussain hosted a number of community radio shows both in UK and USA.
After tiresome hard work, he himself was able to establish RADIO RAMADAN SUTTON broadcasting 24 hours a day on 87.7 FM and also on world wide internet on www.voiceofasia.co.uk
